The Business Challenge
Ty Hafan, the Children's Hospice for Wales, is run by charity workers dotted across South and West Wales. Some departments had found themselves working in isolation, with some not knowing or fully appreciating where they sat in a wider context. That's when they joined Sing and Inspire for a day away from the office.
In a relaxed setting, we got everyone talking and learning about the roles of different departments, then sharing ideas for raising the charity's profile across Wales. When the singing started, teams of old and new friends began to break down barriers. With a mixture of skills in the room, everyone quickly learned to trust in other people's abilities.
People bonded quickly with relative strangers and got to see their day-to-day colleagues in a different light. Some reported 'feeling valued' and no-one felt insecure or vulnerable. More importantly though, the whole team left with new respect for their colleagues and a deeper understanding of the parts that make up the sum of the organisation.
"I felt that my contribution was important… but it was only when everyone's contribution was made that we produced something wonderful."
"It is so important that every department acknowledges every other section so we all work in unison for the same result."
"Way out of our daily comfort zone!"
